About Unnatural Habitats

Unnatural Habitats is the ongoing art project of independent San Francisco–based artist Chris Matlich.

This artwork is shaped by the city that has always been my home, a deep love of nature, and the visual language of the underground music scene and skateboarding culture. My work often imagines oversized wildlife occupying familiar urban environments — a metaphor for communities and subcultures reclaiming space in cities that often overlook them.

Whether it's printed on stock or bonded to fabric, my work is a tribute to the culture and communities that inspire me.
